ABOUT ATTORNEY JAMES HAIRGROVE
ABOUT MY ROLE
I am the founder and Chief Executive of California Law Centers, APC., an established Southern California law firm focused on DUI and criminal defense, including DUI charges, DMV administrative hearings, Military Diversion, serious traffic offenses, and other misdemeanor and felony criminal matters.
I have over 30 years of legal experience and have represented clients facing a wide range of criminal charges and difficult legal circumstances. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to providing clients with experienced representation, practical advice, and personal attention.
I attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, graduating in 1994 in the top third of my class. During my legal education, I received academic honors in legal research and focused my coursework on client counseling, negotiation, and litigation.
Following law school, I further developed my litigation skills through an internship with the Public Defender's Office, where I performed legal research and assisted in preparing legal arguments for the courts. I have also held a variety of legal positions in the San Diego area, including serving as in-house counsel.
In 2006, I founded California Law Centers, APC. with the goal of establishing a law firm where clients could receive experienced and dedicated legal representation supported by a professional legal team.
Today, my practice is particularly focused on DUI defense, DMV administrative proceedings, and criminal defense. I also have extensive experience representing active-duty servicemembers and veterans in matters involving Military Diversion.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO GET INTO LAW?
I have always wanted to practice in an area of law where I could help people through difficult situations that directly affect their lives, their families, their careers, and their futures.
Criminal charges can be overwhelming, particularly for someone who has never been involved with the legal system. I believe an attorney's role is not only to defend the case, but also to help the client understand the process, make informed decisions, and know that someone is standing up for their rights.
WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF YOUR ROLE?
The most rewarding part of my work is helping a client through what may be one of the most stressful periods of his or her life.
Every case presents different challenges. Obtaining a favorable resolution is rewarding, but so is seeing a client reach the end of the process and being able to move forward with life.
That is ultimately why I have remained committed to criminal and DUI defense throughout my career.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT WORKING AT CALIFORNIA LAW CENTERS?
California Law Centers brings together an experienced and dedicated legal team committed to providing high-quality representation to our clients. Our attorneys and professional staff work collaboratively to manage every aspect of a case, from the initial evaluation and investigation through court proceedings, DMV hearings, negotiations, and resolution.
I am proud of the professionalism and dedication of our team. We have built a firm that combines the resources, experience, and capabilities clients expect from an established law practice with the personal attention and accessibility that remain central to our approach.
Our clients know that when they retain California Law Centers, they have a legal team working together to protect their rights and interests.
WHAT DO YOU DO AWAY FROM THE OFFICE?
When I am away from the office, I enjoy getting out on my fishing boat. It gives me an opportunity to relax, recharge, and spend some time on the water.
